Hello Everyone,
I just got a 1993 ford ranger xlt 2wd with 3.0 v6 automatic transmission
I was reading your threads to find out what transmisson is in this truck and it appears I have a A4LD trans according to the code on the door "T". Well here's the problem when I got the truck it won't go into drive it does go into reverse. I checked the trans fluid and it's over filled and also check the radiator and it has some tan looking fluid as if rust but lighter, the guy I got it from said the truck was driven while trans was leaking, but I don't see any leaks under the truck. My question before I drop and open this trans is can it be possible that trans fluid is getting into the radiator the trans fluid looks clean and red. Any help will be appreciated :headbang:

If there were transmission fluid in the coolant it would collect at the top and in the overflow reservoir as a milky redish brown goo. What you have sounds like just a poorly maintained cooling system.

The trans is shot whether coolant is in the trans fluid or not, pulling it is inevitable.
Trans fluid probably looks clean because someone changed or flushed it in hopes it would fix the problem. About 90% of the time if the trans starts slipping it's over, and no amount of flushing will fix it.

Thanks

Thank you for your help since I'm not sure what actually happen to the trans other than what the guy told me, I quess I'll drop it and have it rebuit Thanks again
