I called up the local off road shop, and asked for the options for a 1998 2wd ford ranger leveling kit.
They gave me an array of things to do, but as I have the coil suspension and not the torsion bar, it limited it down to a few.
It came down to getting new coil springs and shocks.
They would be 2 inches higher than the stock.
Is this a good idea and something I should go with or no?

97 was last year of ttb so you should have torsion bars. However I currently have the skyjacker set and I like them

No I have a 1998 XLT 2wd with coil springs. No torsion bars.

Yeah I believe that only the Edge trim line had torsion suspension in 2wd. The regular 2wd has coils.

You might be able to put the rear leafs under the axle instead of on top. That should drop the rear a bit. Or do a shackle flip. Either one of these might drop it a tad too far tho. Your best bet will probably be to bite the bullet and do the front springs.

Yeah that is what I want to do! I have an appointment to get the front lifted 2 inches by new shocks and new springs. Im just asking if this is a good idea and if I should go through with it.

be sure to check the upper ball joints for binding at full droop after its modified. the upper control arms are shorter on the coil trucks vs the torsion bar setups. that puts more angle on the ball joint for the same amount of wheel travel.
I'm taking 98 and newer.

seeming as I am just a daily driver, and just use it to drive to and from school, will I even have a problem with this? I dont even see why the truck would be at max bump or not
