my truck keeps jerking, pulling, stuttering idk what to call it but it doesnt want to accelerate and only does it when i floor it and after i have been driving for about 5 minutes. i have cleaned the maf sensor, changed the spark plugs only a few miles ago and got new spark plug wires today and its still doing it. checked the computer and it said lean exhaust. Im thinking and my friend is also saying it could be the fuel filter could this be right or what can it be?
please help this is my daily driver to school and work. the truck is a 1993 4.0l ranger ext cab. if you need that to.

the fuel filter needs to be changed at regular intervals...it could be the problem....it needs to be changed anyway...once you remove it, shake the used filter over a piece of white paper to see how much trash falls out...this will let you know if the supply line needs flushing out...

just went through the same thing with my 92. It wound up being the O2 on mine.. but I would spray brake cleaner or the like around the intake to verify no vac leaks... More than likely it is the O2... it could be the fuel filter or fuel pump as well. Could even be an injector... You need to see the data on what it is doing with a scanner

thanks ill try changing the fuel filter tomorrow hope it fixes the problem. hope its not an injector. and i dont think its the fuel pump my friend tested it and the pressure was fine.

I dont know but I think an exhaust code would be an o2 sensor wouldnt it ?

Could be but not always... A leaking intake gasket or any vac leak can cause it to go lean.. Fix that problem fixed.. An O2 won't fix a lean condition cause by a bad gasket... Same thing if it is rich.. Could be an exhaust leak, bad FPR or a bad O2.. without testing several things it's guessing...

guarantee you its the fuel filter my dads truck did the same exact thing a few years ago

Changed the fuel filter and keeps doing it but seems to make a popping sound out of the exhaust when I floor it. I would call it a backfire but not sure what it is. and also discovered an o2 sensor that was disconnected but I can't find where it should be plugged in. It's the one closer to the driver side.
