Ford ranger 1994 xlt 4.0L V6

Does anybody know the best engine for a engine swap? I’m not looking for the best engine with the most horsepower just an engine that has more horsepower that I can still be able to modify. Budget 3 to 4 thousand thought about ls engine but need opinions

I always thought the 4.0L was a decent engine in a Ranger.

You will have to go V8 to have options and aftermarket hot rod stuff. Personally... I would stick to Ford power.

You think I should just add littles stuff to boost horsepower like new exhaust etc

You probably won't gain much... but sometimes exhaust tone makes us feel better about it.

I was just saying... any of my 4.0L trucks would do pretty much anything i asked of them.

If you need more... get you some more.

3-4k isn't going to go far for a swap. If all you want is a fast truck.. buy any decent 98+ chevy with a v8, turbo it, have it tuned, and try to keep tires on the thing.

While any LS will be happy with a turbo on it, I'd suggest finding one with a 4.8.
