Ford Probe Seats in Ranger

Howdy,

Came across some really good looking bucket seats for a good price. Although not Eddie Bauer Explorer leather, I think they'll be more comfy and aesthetically pleasing.

QUESTION: Can 1995 Ford Probe GT seats bolt in to a 1997 Ranger extended cab?

What may be required?

you should be able to make them fit but i doubt it will be a bolt in. not sure if your seats bolt to the rails the same way as mine but i tried to use seats from a mid 90's probe and they werent even close.

I have seats from a 1994 Windstar in my Ranger and the brackets aren't anywhere near close. I had to cut the floor bracket off of the ranger tacks and bolt them to the windstar tracks. It helped that I had a bench seat in my truck before hand so the inner holes I had to drill anyways, so I could put them where I wanted. In all it was a pain in the ass to switch the brackets over to the windstar tacks, but in the end it was worth it. I love the seats and they are so much more comfortable then the old bench. Just as long as you are prepaired to drill some holes in your floor and to reuse the old brackets you should do fine. The only problem I came across is that the seats sit lower then the old ranger bench and the recline and slide features on the passenger seat are non existant and the drivers seat does not slide, I do not know if this is a problem with Probe seats, but this was a problem with windstar seats for me.

As a side note, if you're going from a bench and not a 60/40 setup and do not have the inner brackets, you will need them out of another vehicle the same as yours, extended cab - extended cab, regular cab - regular cab.

it actually isnt that hard to build your own custom brackets either, its easier than it sounds....

I am hoping for sliding seats...and I am guessing that the Probe seats will sit lower as well. I do not have a bench, and I currently have the 60/40 split. I guess I could get used to the height difference, or I could shim up or bracket the sides. What kind of hardware could I use for this? Could heavier material/brackets from Ace or another hardware store do the trick?

The Probe seats come with brackets...do y'all think they will fit at all on our floorboards?

no chance. my seats came from my brothers wrecked '94 t-bird and they arent even built the same. the 'seat tracks' are one big piece for each seat and actually have the pivot points for the back built into them. so if you take them off, the bottom and the back are seperate pieces. it required some cutting, welding and drilling.

The modification would have been really simple if Ford hadn't used the rivet design.
