are made of amazing! I did a bad parking job, i was making a left turn into a parking spot and i was too close to the other guys car (Nissan Altima) and then Boom! Hit his left rear fender/tail lights. For some reason I had lifted it off the ground a little bit :icon_surprised:, when i backed away it came down and there was a decent sized dent and his tail light was broken. At this point I was like "WTF!!" so I ran out and checked my ranger and there was literally no damage. A few scratches that could be easily buffed out. If this is how good these bumpers are, then I guess Fords really are "Built Ford Tough"! Cant say so much for the guy's nissan...

FWIW I found the guy and exchanged info with him, i did *NOT* run away. I was pretty embarrassed when he was describing the damage to his insurance over the phone, and then he asked me what my damage was, and I said "none.." :icon_thumby:

EDIT: The morale of the story:

If you dont think you can make it, then dont try it! (In parking lot situations)

thats pretty crappy but at least you stood up an took action instead of running away.. i work at the local grocery store an i always park like an asshole with both my trucks.. i take up to parking spots cuz well people are LAZY an assholes.. my trucks been hit 2 times by carts an broke both my lights.. so now i take up 2 spots in the front row..

yeah it crossed my mind to run.. but.. i was like "if someone hit my truck, how would i feel" so i went back.

WTF, what kind of grocery store is this?

I have never had my truck damaged at the Grocery store parking lot, I don't park next to a abandoned cart, or the cart collection areas.

and I shop at some creepy places, like Kmarts.

Not running is honorable and honest. I wish others had that sense of honesty. People remember honesty and curse at the other type.

I backed OVER a ladies Kia with my dually one time in a parking lot.

She was right on my ass and a semi was making a turn in to the lot to drop off a load (I think i was at lowes) I looked behind me and didnt see nothing so i preceeded to back up. Well lets say a Reese hitch doesnt do anything good for a kias hood.

later,
Dustin

^^ ya i almost did the same thing i was at the gas station an i hate when you in the middle pump an some one will park right infront of you an well that happends an i guess a little honda pull right up on my ass an i didnt see it but thanks god my friend was in the pump next to me an yelled at me lol which would of sucked if i had to of hit him, it was the first day i left my hitch on so it would of done some good damage to that honda.

Just an update, here's a pic of the damage to the other car:

How bad/hard would that be too fix, personally I don't think it looks like much, but my dad said it could be like a 1000 bucks. :fie:

new tail light and pull the dent out of the quarter panel and repaint it. there is about 3-500 right there. looks like a small scrape on the bumper too, so figure another 3- 500 for the back bumper to be refinished.

Looks like an early 90's altima that is in rough condition to begin with, so maybe the guy will go to pull apart and replace the tailight and buff the scratch out of the rest of it and not file on you....

Personally, if that was my car, that is what I would do. It is not like it is a brand new car and in perfect condition.

Glad you manned up and exchanged info. More people need to look up to you for an example on how to live their lives in that respect.

AJ

If it were my car, and I were doing the work, I could probably do it for the price of a tailight, a buffer and buffing compound, and a toilet plunger, and mayeb some touchup paint.

ha ha ha you made me laugh when you said toilet plunger
when i was younger and stupider my friend told me he could pull a dent out with a plunger...so i bet him $10.00 he could'nt......he won

Wow that stuff adds up fast. Hopefully they'll miss the scratch on the bumper (I didn't even notice it actually) and save me some money.. it is a 97 altima I think, and it wasn't in 'mint' condition to begin with...but the guy will probably act like it is some brand new cadillac (notice the missing hubcap? I hope they don't put that one on me. haha).

dogboy, maybe i'll sneak over to his house at night with that stuff and do some work on it to cut the costs lol.

thanks to everyone for saying i did the right thing, it makes this a little easier and i can sleep sound instead of being a criminal in hiding
