I dont know if anyone has ever seen them but they used to make replacement grill and tailgate emblems that light up called Lumi Logo's. They have since been discontinued and are pretty much impossible to find. I figured i would try and make my own with a clear ford emblem. The problem is though that now i cant even find a clear emblem. Does ANYONE know where to find a used Lumi Logo or any clear ford emblem (or one that i can sand down to get to clear)? Im kicking myself for not getting one back when they still made them.

do you think a light will be able to shine through that though with how milky it gets after sanding? i saw thought but wasnt so sure about how well it would work. may have to give it a try though

after you sand it with the finest sandpaper you can find, You could try one of the headlight repair kits. They are made to polish plastic and make it clear again. I would think it would work.

I don't know about polishing the back afterward, but I’d work my way down to about 1000Grit or higher wet sanding paper, and get some stained glass paint(I think it is called.) It will give you enough color to not look bad in daylight, but still be translucent enough for a light to shine through at night.

Edit; WOW this stuff was harder to find online then I thought, but this is like what you'll want. I’d try an art supply or maybe walmart.

actually wouldn't you want a lil scuff to let the light hit and reflect off of?

If the light is reflecting, it would not so much show through the emblem as shine around it. The way i recommended doing it with the stained glass paint, would be my guess as to how the original Lumi Logo's would have been made.
