Hey All!

I was wondering if any of the members are currently employed by Ford in the Electrical Engineering design group? I am in need for some specific detailed direction on the SJB for the 2011 4X4.

Thanks!

Rorry

While we do have people employed in the automotive industry and some retired from it at the dealership level, I don’t think we have anyone that specific as active members here. Ford does monitor the site from time to time according to the forum owner. But I doubt they do any posting.

SJB and GEM were Rangers Body Computers, GEM 1995 thru 2003, SJB 2004 thru 2011

Article here has good images of SJB: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/ford-ranger-short-burst-horn-modification/

Ford treats the SJB like it treated the GEM, replace it, no repair

I have seen no schematics for them, although they would have to exist just for design purposes
Some circuit diagrams do show SJB pathways, but just for that one circuit, like the one in the above article that shows the Ground Controlled Horn Relay circuit

There were only 2 SJB models used, with keyless entry and without keyless entry, no other sub-options

My 04 has the upgraded dome light assy with map lights. I am doing the wiring to have the same light in the 11. The 04 has a Light Green with Orange stripe that is continuously hot. According to the 04 schematic, both of the dome light power wires come out of the SJB on connector C2280B. The LT GRN/ORG is independently energized by the Interior Lamp/ Battery saver relay and is located on pin 5. On the 11 SJB there are pin receptacles for the Interior Lamp/ Battery saver relay but no pin out for the continuous hot. There are a couple of open pin locations on the board. I would like to know if I put the relay in the spot where it goes, will it energize the hot circuit without damaging anything else. And is it possible to solder in a pin to obtain the correct power for the light?

That wire is just energized by the battery saver relay, there are a few misprinted diagrams
Below is a 2004 diagram, that has the misprint
On the top right is battery saver relay, on the top LEFT is the interior light relay, unlabelled, the "Interior Lamp" relay label should be next to it

If you are referring to the Accessory Delay relay which was on the front side of SJB it was no longer used after 2006, just a blank spot

Is the 2011 Ranger a basic model?
No Keyless entry or power group or other options?

Because its surprising there is no Map Light connection even if there are no Map Lights

So you want a Battery Saver connection so Map Lights have 12v available, but will shut off after 20-30 min if accidentally left on
Do you have a Glove Box light?
That will have a 12v wire from Battery Saver relay

Hey Ron,
I have the same exact schematic that you provided. It was downloaded from Mitchell. On the 11 I am rebuilding, there is a relay in the the Accessory Delay location. On the 11 harness that is going in the 04 when it is restored, the location is open as you indicated. The 11 that I am rebuilding is a Sport model with a key fob for electric locks, that was built in Minnesota and then exported to Canada. I can try and get the number off of the relay and get it to you I don't think that the glove box has a light but I will research. The battery saver would be nice but not entirely necessary. the PN on the relay is 5C3T-14B192-AA

If you have an accessory delay relay it can be used for Map Lights
It activates with key on but doesn't go off with key off, it stays in until drivers door is opened
Usually powers the power windows and Radio, so you can roll windows up or listen to radio while waiting with key off
