Here's a picture of the Ford logo I tried to change colors of - someone tell me what I did wrong!

I'm sorry - here's the attachment. The silver 'FORD' that was embedded on the plate came off while I pried off the plate- could that be it?

I also used a Ford decal from a 97 Ranger in the junkyard instead of brand new - in case that had anything to do with it.

Had the same problem, you need more heat, be more careful when prying up on the center piece and sanding it. Get a bunch of them when you hit the jy next (I don't think they check your pockets on your way out). It may take a few tries but you'll get it

I didnt want the chrome on mine. When i did mine, I completely cleaned the clear plastic piece. I then painted the backside silver, then sanded the silver off the high spots so only the "ford" and oval were silver. Then painted the rest of it black.

That's an even better way to do it

So, did you cover up the "FORD" and oval with tape before applying the black coat?

I don't think it would be necessary, the black coat would be behind the silver coat on the lower spots

Exactly!
I did mask the front side though

Just make sure you do a few coats of each color so nothing shows through from the back.

Now that ive looked at mine up close now, I kind of want to redo it.

Excuse the bug guts
