The Ford blue ovals on my BII are in pretty poor condition. One infiltrated with moisture is pretty much toast.
I had picked up replacement blue ovals some time ago but I noticed the blue was much darker than the ones on my BII and the plastic was formed slightly different (new one was flatter than original). I accepted that flatter was okay but the blue just seemed off. I thought maybe the ones were originally the same darker blue and were just sun faded. It just seemed wrong though on my BII. The color did match the ones on my 02 Explorer however.
I tried googling to see if Ford changed the shade of blue, but all the hits I got were how to modify an existing emblem to any desired color. Found one a couple sites showing history of the logo but it seemed to suggest no change.
So I considered maybe my recollection is wrong.
Recently though I got my hands on an older blue oval, one that was an exact match in shape of the plastic was formed. I know it hasn't been out in the sun and the shade of blue is definitely much lighter than the newer ones.
Anyone know what is up with this? What years were they this way? Or does it vary by model? Anything what will help find ones that are the right original color which I like much better than the darker ones for my BII.
