Does anyone know when ford used the header style manifold on the 2.3? Looking replace the whole system. I have read on the forum that a 97 had the header style. Just trying to get an idea before I head to the junk yard. Thanks!

The "shorty" header, as some called them, were used from 1993 through 1997 and are a direct bolt on for the old cast headers.

Some say they make little or no difference in performance but I did notice they were considerably lighter than the original cast headers. On my baffed out 2.0 engine the shorty header freed up a bit of weight and I thought they looked considerably better...

The Mazda series 2300 were the same so you can use either if you can't find a Ranger in that year span.
