I'd like to hear from those of you that have removed your front anti-sway bar. I have removed mine and would like input on a few things. I'd like to hear some "comparison notes" from those of you that can relate.

1. do you still use a rear anti-sway bar?

2. have you noticed any pre-mature/excessive wear on the rear anti sway bar bushings and/or end links?

3. what might I notice during winter driving in the snow?

This will be my first winter without it. Wouldn't mind a bit of a heads-up, please.

Thanks!

Tossed both of mine 6 years ago. The rear really doesn't do much at all. The front is more noticeable, but not something I would say causes is to handle poorly. My trucks lifted 8 inches with 36" tires and the body roll is very manageable. Winter vs summer I didn't notice any difference.

i Cut both og mine out when i added the 6'' lift and 33's here, at the same time added explorer leafs, i dont really feel its all too bad as far as body roll, sure wouldnt bother adding sway bars now!

When my truck was stock (leveled on 31"s), I had both my swaybars removed, and drove it like that for a little over a year.

It was only an issue once, I was haulin one of those double door refrigerators with a pull out freezer on the bottom. And since you can't turn a refrigerator on it's back or side(liquid refrigerant goes to the gas side and blows the compressor when plugged back in), It was upright. It made me a little top heavy, it swayed my truck quite a bit on minor turns, and the truck 3-wheeled on me going around a tight curve.

But other than that, It was fine. Once you get used to the way it handles, you might actually think it's better.

I would not recommended it on a B2 though, very scary. Unless you chop-top it.:icon_thumby:

I just disconected them. Hardley any difference. more flex though. Still drive 70 no prob. Dont have rear sway bar.

i ditched both of mine, daily driver, 31's, it drives just the same if not more smooth

Mine are both gone too. Personally felt like it improved the handling over rough roads. Lets the suspension work, instead of letting the bumps toss the truck around. I can definately notice the body lean around corners, but it's not horrible. Remember you're driving a 4x4, and not a GT Mustang ,and you'll have no problems.

my 85 never had a rear and i removed the front- it has virutally no more body roll than my stock 99 with both connected (which i've been meaning to remove aswell but i'm always busy with other things.)

THANKS for the input, everyone! :icon_thumby:

The front bar (only the front) has been disconnected for a little bit now and I am beside myself with it. I really wish I had done this sooner!!!!! The front suspension is nowhere near as harsh as it was before, which I GREATLY appreciate, and the best part is that it comes with very little compromise to body roll and handling. Every time I hit a pothole or drive over a driveway bump it puts a smile on my face.

I'm gonna disconnect one of the rear anti-sway bar endlinks today and see how that goes. Should be interesting.

Y'know, so many people say Rangers "handle great for what they are" and I can't help but think that Ford went overkill with the anti sway bar sizing, given what i've experienced.

Also, I coulda sworn I remember reading that removing the front bar helped to greatly reduce the effect of bumpsteer, and I can't help but agree.

Okay, so I was out driving around a short while ago (tried on some 31s) without the rear bar connected .....

O ..... M ..... F ..... G!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So now I gotta remove that, too! A perfect compliment to the front. Another one of those "wish I had done it sooner" deals.

I'm anxious to see what this winter with my Ranger will be like. :icon_hornsup:

Thanks again guys!

Ranger svt unhooked his....... but he's lifted 12 inches on 37's. At 80 on the highways he said he was getting sea sick, lol.

Wind was gusting pretty hard that day.
but it wheeled great.

I was just wondering, im new to this....What exactly does taking your sway bar off do? I feel dumb asking but sounds like something i might want to do.

Frees up more suspension articulation for keeping your tires on the ground when off road on a severely undulated trail (the swaybar by design restricts this type of movement of the suspension).

The downside is worse street handling.

that was not a dumb question...i dont even know where the front and rear sway bars are at but i'd be interested in taking them off also...even tho i don't really off road that much.

I still have my sway bars on after 4" of lift, and didn't even use the drop brackets. It still sways, but not as bad as without it.
