For my 5.0 peeps...

Nice, I want to get my big K&N into the fender well if possible, and I think it just might be possible if I use one of those Speed Density pipes.

I have another question. Which sensor do you have in the water neck? My neck has that bung in it, but I've never used it for anything.

EDIT: Also, did you have to mod that intake pipe to fit the MAF housing?

Shane, I drilled and tapped the water neck, and put the factory dash sender in there. It seemed to be the least important one. The rear passenger corner of the lower intake is a busy location, so I have nothing there. The front passenger side is the heating tube, front driver side is the thermostat switch for the efans, driver side rear is for the Autometer water temp gauge.

The tubing fit over the MAF with no problem. I do have a few adapters in use though.
I had previously used an Explorer intake tube, with and additional 90* bend at the TB to put the stock filter box in the stock location- right into the fender.

Bobby, of course you could use AC with Fox body length FEAD. But that would involve cutting out the core support, removing the latch support, using pusher fan(s). A little more... something... Let's just say it wouldn't suit my goals for looks and performance.
AC is a simple project with a different FEAD. Blower box mods are not necessary if correct parts are used at the TB.

well i am sorry but it works fine all around. i have installed this system and some others a few times. and it sucks compared to no ac for sure, takes alot more work all around. i prefer not to do it because its harder then doing anything else from all the trips to the store that usually ensue because of it.

the looks at the stock air box are iffy depending on whether i use metel or a remote setup is emplyed , the looks from the front are not the nicest with a stock grill as its right at the grille and there is alot of cutting and trimming involved and i use some stainless pan heads to some sheet metel supports, so if you leave it open it is something many dont like to look at, not an issue with me... but black screen blacks it out and looks much better....also loads up with bugs and has its own costs for maintenance.

the work involved to aesthetically make the core support look factory along with a good radiator is not something i would spend money or time on....but getting it to all work with the proper puller fans is easy. hood latch can be kept, but the secondary latch release needs modification(bent out flat) the condenser has to go down and shrouded a bit with a 2wd.

on the whole there is more room in the later trucks to push stuff forward then the gen 1. you can use puller electric or a mark 7 fan if you have to. i know because i put a complete mark 7 engine mechanical fan included in a 96 with an earlier explorer condenser and a custom fan shroud in a truck that originally did not have ac.. you have to cut out the core extensively and mod/fab the fixtures to keep the grill and bumper cover in place and looking stock from the outside but thats what you do to get the setup you want.:dunno:

or you can just swap all the v8 explorer stuff in and get crazy with the firewall. up to the ones doing it.:dunno:

This thread is another reminder why you won the December STOTM!

I love those rims/ tires, did you have to use spacers? and how much drop did you do?

The spacers are not needed, but I'm using a 1/2" spacer in front to match the look of the rear. I'm using extra long studs in a custom hub for my Cobra brakes, so it's not quite the stock setup!

I added some details in this thread for an overview of wheels and drop and such:

Hey, thanks guys!!
Kind of shocked...
I generally hang out in the V8 forum here. If anyone has any questions about the truck, let me know.

A quick rundown, as I don't have too much detail on this site.
1997 Supercab, was 4.0 5speed, now it's a 5.0 with a T5.
Truck is dropped approx. 5/8", with DJM beams and "custom" coils, DJM flip kit and flipped shackle hangers.
Wheels are 18X9/18X10 Bullitts, with '94-'04 Mustang backspacing. (fr +24mm, rr +20mm) Tires are General Exclaim, 275/40/18 and 295/35/18. Rear fender lips are rolled.
Brakes are 13" Cobra up front from an '03 Anniversary Cobra, with custom brackets and hubs. Rears are 11.65" Cobra discs. Rebuilt Traction Lok (clutch/steel/clutch/steel, etc.) with 3.55 gears.

Interior has Explorer power seats, Explorer console that is gutted and modded for the T5 shifter. Shifter is Steeda Tri-Ax. Has a little stereo, Alpine Head unit, Pioneer speakers, and a dog-proof Bazooka sub.

Think that about covers it... The front bumper is an old thing from Godfather Customs, I do have a tonneau that is waiting for paint, and I have made a custom cowl hood, using a 2.5" cowl from a Fox body Mustang.

Oh, and the engine bay has been trimmed, painted... Has some fancy Redline hood struts ;)
Engine was a '92 5.0 H.O.
Now has a b303 cam, 1.7 roller rockers, GT40 heads, GT40 tubular intake, 65mm TB, 80mm MAF, Shelby Tri-Y headers, custom 2.5" dual exhaust to two Flowmaster 40 mufflers, dumped in front of the rear axle.
Front accessories are Fox length. Brackets are March style, with the Alternator (1993 Taurus 3G) flipped upside down. Has two 10" fans on the stock rad for cooling.
Truck now has a BBK CAI intended for an SN95 4.6 Mustang.

And for those of you new to engine swaps, everything in the dash works- engine light, speedometer, stock tack, all stock gauges and lights :)

Like the rest of you, there are a million other little mods!

Big thanks to this site for all the help... I've had four Rangers in the past ten years!

really like ur truck man, just wonderin if i could possibly stick those 10s in front to for the deep dish look all the way around???

:3gears:

Yes, they fit. Haven't actually driven with them on there, though.

There are many '05+ styles that look deep dish on four 9" rims if you're going for that.

That's one sweeeet looking truck, nice job!!!! The engine really looks great. Thanks for your help and input during my recent swap. Congrats on the TOTM.

well im goin with bullits, hopin to find someone that has had those 10.5 on the back also on the front and still have clearance of the springs, spindle etc. and still be flush with the fender like the back. i think they are sick lookin with it being that wide. im also gona roll the fenders to like urs is. but gona do it all the way around. i found a packaged deal but its for 17x9 in front with 255/45ZR/17, and the back are 17x10.5 with 315/35ZR/17. hopin to put 17x10.5 in the front to with 315/35ZR/17 instead of 17x9. will post pics of my truck in progress. :3gears:
