Just curious, has anyone ever gotten a ticket/warning for having their fog lights on when it wasn't foggy/raining/snowing/etc...?

I was told at a road side stop once that it was illegal to have them on with your low-beams because it was like having your high-beams on. I tried to look up the by-laws but I think you have to be a lawyer to understand them. A friend of mine also said that his newer vehicle has full time fog lights whenever the low beams are turned on.

I heard it was illegal to have the fogs on with the high beams, not the low beams. I see them all time with low beams and fogs on. Not entirely sure though

If it was illegal the factory wouldnt put fogligts on new cars. I know Off Road driving lights are illegal to have on when on the road. Now idk what the laws are were your at but i dont think you are suposed to have fog lights on with your high beams on.

I agree with them:agree:.

Off Road or non factory lights cannot be on if they have a brighter light then the low beams. Up here its illegal to hove them on but the cops don't care as long as you turn them off when cars are coming. Also it depends on if they are aimed correctly. like every subaru up here drives with theirs on( subi = every other car). I do too but they are not that bright they only light up the front of the road.

You should be fine.

I live in PA, I have heard that people have gotten tickets here for having fog lights on when it wasn't foggy. OTOH, I see people do it all the time so it would be a full-time job to enforce it if they wanted to do it.

Switch blades are illegal too but you can buy them at gun shows.

In some states "auxiliary" lights are aloud for off road only and must be covered when driving ON road.

I always flash my lights at those morons who insist on using them all the time just because they think is looks cool.

I'm all for ticketing them. :flipoff:

ive only had a cop flash his brights at me when i have mine on,i turned them off till he passed. use mine all the time beacuse my stock lights are fogged over and i cant see.

BlackBII, most factory fog lights turn off when the highbeams are turned on. At least my 2000 Ranger, and my 2005 Mustang do.

Fog lights aren't meant to be bright. If they are, they need to be adjusted. Fogs have a very sharp cut-off line, and are meant to be aimed low. They have a wide spread of light, meant to light the road dirrectly in front of you. When driving in fog, or even snow, highbeams actually make it more difficult to see, because the light is relecting back toward you.
