My 99 Ranger has the factory off road package and it has the pushbutton foglight switch on the radio bezel. But, and here's the kicker, my truck's got no damn foglights!!! Help me figure this out before i go completely insane!:icon_confused:

no fog lights as in they are present on the truck but not functioning?
i will assume they are present..did you check the fuse, relay, and condition of the bulbs?

i think he is saying, he has the button but they're not on the truck.

are you the only owner of this truck? a previous owner could have rear ended someone and put on a different front bumper that didnt have foglights.

otherwise, it's probably just a mistake by ford.

I am not the original owner of the truck. And no, no fog lights are present. I also cant seem to find any wiring for them behind the bumper or anywhere. just a switch. Truck has a clean carfax and autocheck.

I'm beginning to think this may be the case.

previous owner could have hit a deer and just put a new valence on and not replaced the lights. does it have a fog light valence?

In light of this:

I am not the original owner of the truck..

I'm inclined to disagree. Not that Ford is infallible...but a previous owner swapping parts just seems more likely.

A front-end bump that lead to a new bumper is probably most likely (and a minor one, or one off-roading, etc. could easily leave no paper trail you'll ever find)...but it's at least possible the radio bezel was replaced at some point, too, with one that has a foglight switch.

My truck does not have a foglight valence. I would be inclined to believe replacement had occurred if not for the fact that there are no wires running to where the lights should be. And also, the button on the radio bezel has the little green LED in it and it lights up to indicate "on" just fine.

then someone replaced the bumper/valance and gutted the wires, maybe theyre hidden somewhere

I bet the wiring is already up there it should be two plugs that are round bout the size of a nickel. I bet the valance was changed and the light unplugged.

I wouldn't rely on them. More backyard mechanics around here than real ones.
