Well hello everyone. I have bin lurking for a while. I currently have NO FORDS but am looking for a min 90's 4x4 Ranger with a 3.0. I want the vehicle for everyday driving along with light trail/hunting use. I would like it to be OBD2 so either a 96 or 97 and reliable.

I am and have been an auto tech with KIA for 10 years so I kinda have horse blinders on when working on other manufacturers. Current vehicle is a 4wd 96 pathfinder but want something at least 20 mpg and slide this vehicle off to wife since it has about 250k.

With what I am looking for does anyone have any recommendations.

20 mpg? buy a toyota 4 cyl 4x4... its not gonna happen with a 90's ranger.

(btw, wife should always get the good vehicle)

I got 19 mpg with my 95 4.0 4x4 reg. Cab before I went to larger tires. I was easy on the throttle though. Now I get around 18, some city, mostly highway...

i got around 19 w/ my b2 in town for a while with a 4.0...
i've seen 3.0 rangers get 20..

i'd get a 97 4.0/md05/8.8/d35 ttb/ manual everything if i was you... but since you're you.. and i'm not you.. go for the 3.0 if you want. lol

i would get the ttb front axle tho.. even if you get a 3.0 or 4.0... the ttb is cheaper to lift and stronger offroad IMO
