I'm not sure exactly when they switched to the single in tank high pressure pump but I'm thinking at some point in the 88 model year. Easy way to know if you have a two pump system is if there is a frame rail mounted fuel pump. There will always be a low pressure in tank pump with a frame mounted pump. There is also a fuel reservoir between the tank and the frame pump. This reservoir may or may not contain a replaceable cartridge filter. There is also an in line fuel filter between the frame pump and engine. But not always... my Bronco II didn't have that.
In a nut shell IMHO... that fuel system has to much going on. What replaced it was a high pressure in tank pump and an in line filter. Simple. I choose to remove all of the two pump system and do mine the way it should have always been done. I have most of the info in my build thread. If interested I can get you a link to it.
