how to you remove the shifter on a fm146 tranny do i have to remove the 4 torqs head bolts to get it out?

Well-Known Member
1) Remove the rubber boot screws and the transfer case shifter knob if you have a maual transfer case.
2) Peel back the carpeting and take off the rubber boot.
3) Put the shifter in neutral.
4) Remove the 4 screws holding the shifter onto the transmission.
5) Pull the shifter straight up.
6) Be careful not to damage the gasket.
