Any idea what market value of a used FM146 5 speed are? Drove fine with 126,000 miles.
Thanks!

mail it to me....with 50 bux and i will take it.

seriously, in my area 75-275 is the range. i bought one for 125 with 60 k on it
after haggling with a yard in bay city for one that had over 200k on it with no shifter for 275. a tree fell on the truck i got mine from. it sat for 15 years on 4 flats because the engine was supposedly blown up. turned out the rocker arm shaft backed out.

what are you looking to get?

It all depends on the demand for it. Nobody really uses them anymore, the Mazda trans is an easy upgrade. If you find someone that needs one, you might get a hundred bucks out of it. I wouldn't hold my breath though, I'd be inclined to scrap it just to have it out of the way.

not here....everyone wants the m5od so the 145/146 are the ones left as misfit toys.

i have a 4.0 b2 and been getting by with it. my ranger has an automatic...but thats not stock...

They're getting hard to find, aren't they?

The transmission itself isn't that hard to find. The parts and tools required to do any meaningful repairs when something breaks are though.

So is $150 a fair price or low for an FM146 with electric shift transfer case?

Probably depends on your location.

Here in So Calif I wouldn't expect them to be as easy to come by as M5ODs, but I also wouldn't exactly say they are rare like hen's teeth either.
At the same time though, the market for them probably isn't as big here as it would be in more rural/suburban areas (Cash-for-Clunkers is largely to blame :annoyed: ).

If it's in good shape with 126K, $150 sounds fair (a non-U-Pullit yard would probably want over $350 for that trans, maybe much more).
