Have one of these sitting in the garage and was wondering if it would hold up to a 4.0L I have an A4LD in it now and it's a peice of garbage at best. Thinking about swapping it in the truck. Any suggestions for when I rebuild it? And will it hold up?

Thanks

i wouldn't use it with a 4.0. Rebuild a m5od and use that definitely strong enough since they came with them.

I cant agree with you. I dont think the M5OD is quite strong enough for a 4.0l, but its the best stock option. :D

Snoraranger...what tranny do you suggest? I dont need anything insanely strong like an NP435 or anything but I do want dependability if/when this auto does go.

Like I said. The M5OD is the best option for a "stock" replacement.

Just make sure you replace the rubber shift rail plugs with steel plugs and it should last a long time.

You can use an FM145..I did for a while, and it did hold up. I'd be a bit easy on the throttle though, a 4.0 could shred it real quick.

As already stated, M5OD is a much better alternative.

Okay thanks guys. Now all I gotta do is locate one of these bastards.
