I need some help trying to fix an FM converter. My brother bought it off ebay to use in his '66 fairlane with only AM. When he got it and hooked it up it didn't work so he let the guy know and he gave him a refund and told my brother to just through it away. So he just gave it to me. And i tried putting it in my uncles '66 mustang, and here's what it's doing, or not doing. I hook it up to a power source, and a grounding source. Hook up the car antenna to it and the antenna out of it to the AM radio. Turn the AM radio on and hit the button to turn the converter on and I can here it switch over to FM but there is no reception at all, not even any static. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? i took the top and bottom covers off and couldn't visually see a problem, but it kinda looked like the glue was a bit melted, not discolored just like it was in a hot car and melted the glue a bit. any thoughts?

Is the Mustang radio an AM only radio too? If so, I'd say the reason it doesn't work is because it's an FM Modulator, not an AM modulator.

yes, it's an AM only radio. But the purpose of the converter is to give AM only radio's FM.

What is the name and model number of this FM converter?

Just curious. Have you tried looking up information on the internet about it?

It is very likely your problem is you aren't tuned in to the FM converters output frequency.

The name is IDI and the model number is MC-77. and i haven't looked anything up about, of course now that you mention that i'm going to right now. and i do see an adjustment screw, maybe tomorrow i'll hook it up again and move that around. thanks
