how strong are the fm-146's compaired to the m50d trannys?

im goin to be swappin from an a4ld and was curious, i have a gen1 b2 and how much stuff do i need to move or is it completely bolt in?:icon_confused::headbang:

Not as strong, but an improvement over your auto for sure. Unless you're planning on a 4.0 swap, you'll be alright.

I always heard the heard the 4.0 trannys was a direct blot in on the back of a 2.9 your better off upgrading to it.

The 4.0 and the 2.9 use the same auto tranny, until like 1998.
The 4.0 uses a mazda transmission, which I believe was available in 1990+ model year 2.9s as well.

And they are direct bolt on, as the 2.9 and 4.0 are the same block.

I think the a4dl is the same length as the fm 146, which is 2" longer than the 145. Not 100% on that...
