Here is a link to my problems that i am encountering....
http://www.therangerstation.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28705&highlight=grinding+starter
I picked up a flywheel from another vehicle... i didnt get the plate that goes on the outside of the bellhousing..... (the truck i pulled it from didnt have it)

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how to drop the trans put the new flywheel in.... by myself? I am working on it in my gravel driveway and i really dont have any way to get it onto a shop/garage....

Also, i hear people talking about a "rear main seal"??? I have read a few times that if you have the transmission dropped already that i should go ahead and replace it? I have no idea what is going on there....any suggestions?

BTW... i got under there today and i noticed that the moron who swapped the engine didnt put all the bolt back into the drive shaft......so who knows what else im going to encounter....Thats probably the reason that im having to go through all of this......

I would change it all. rear main, front main on transmission, clutch, slave cylinder, master cylinder. everything that requires taking the transmission out. do it all while its out, I cannot stress that enough.

sorry... i ALWAYS say the wrong thing.... its a flex plate... its an automatic....

I understand that i should change it, but i have no clue what to do and where exactly it is......

If your gonna do this it might be best to get a repair manual....so you have step by step instructions and a few pictures....(pictures are our friends)

might be easier to pull the engine rather than the tranny. but I'm sure you can drop the tranny too. You'll have to support which ever you leave in the truck.

dude, before you start getting all apeshit, find that seperator plate!

it is notched so that you dont have to drop the tranny to get it in!

just get the bolts out that attach the block to the bellhousing. there are six of them and they will be a pain in the ass but it is possible. I have removed all of them before without removing the heads or the intake. its a pain and it hurts your hand and you need a step stool but you can do it. the bottom two can be had with a shitload of extensions and ratchet from the bottom of the truck.

you will have to pry the bellhousing from the engine block with a screwdriver and then the plate should slide right in.

Ill get a picture and show you what i mean.

Im talking straight out of my ass here, but i would assume anything with a 2.9 and a auto tranny. looks like you dont even need to get the top two bolts out cause they are notched.
