Ive read several people on here saying the OG 40 series is the prefered.
but, nothing ive researched says if this is something ill have to "make fit".
I imagine so since theres no actual part or part number for a 40 series for the 3.0l ranger
if anyone can give me some info... please and thanks :icon_thumby:

The reason they prefer the original 40's is because they have a very aggressive sound to them (loud).

Stainless is really the only way to go. Flowmasters are common to rust out where the welds are made internally. Last time I checked, the ranger had 2 1/4" in and out, so this could work:

Shop around here: https://www.google.com/search?q=8042441&tbm=shop&hl=en&aq=f

Just a word of advice, while they are loud, they are rather "tinny".

Skip to 3:40 to get to the original 40. You'll want to wear a good set of headphones if you don't have good speakers.

tho that's the sound on a 406 V8 a 3.0 will sound NOTHING like that...

the Super 44 has a good tone to it...

It will still have that tinny sound, it is a chambered muffler.

Also remember, there is nothing to absorb the "bad" sounds/wavelengths (since it is just chambered), therefore the result of drone is a higher risk.

what i was getting at is most websites when doing a search for exhaust parts dont bring up any original 40 series flowmasters for a 3.0l ranger, its always a delta or something else. if i were to use an original 40 id like to know the one to use for this application. im aware a torch and welder makes anything fit. but, im looking for the easiest one.

You don't need an "application".
Choose the muffler by inlet size, outlet size; inlet position, outlet position. You can get the position centered or offset. Mine is totally custom, but I have offset inlet, centered outlet, and stacked them side by side.

I have 44s on my Mustang, they sound more mellow than the 40s on the Ranger.
