I guess this is the right place to post this. I have a 05 xlt 4x4 5-speed with the 4 wheel drive shifter on the dash can I convert it to a floor shifter?

All the parts are available on older models but, it requires some cutting.

You need to check out my myspace, we have the same avitar.

Sweet we have good taste... by cutting yo mean just the floor pan right or is there other stuff involved.

Yeah, the floor and carpet. You also need to find a rare transfercase and shifter. They are out there, you just need to look. Think of finding that transfer case as your first challange.

Yeah... thanks a lot for your help Im goin to "you pull it" next weekend so keep your fingers crossed.

If you find a similiar truck to yours with a manual transfer, Make sure you get the boot for the shifter. Make some measurements of the floor so that you can put your hole in the right place.
If you forget, there is probably someone here that can help you with that. Mine are all to old.

what all came with a manual transfer case that is usable?

just rangers? I have been thinking of doing this swap myself

I belive explorers had manual transfer cases as well. You should have a Borg Warner 1354 with the 4.0. The BW 1350 is commonly found in a manual transfer case but I think you need to shorten the front drive shaft if you do that. If you can find the 1354 in manual shift, then it is a direct swap.

thank you . I just dont trust the electronic engage.... anyone know how hard the swap is?

Am in the same boat here, I hate the knob shifter. could I get a trans case and all the stuff from like Rockauto.com, the pull-N-Save sucks here in Co.
