Hey guys,

Just wanted to bring up something interesting I've noticed on my own truck and reading on the forums here.

On my 2001 3.0 V6 the order on which my spark plug wires connect to the various cylinders is flipped 180 degrees from what is in my Chilton's manual and on TRS here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/3_0performance.html

So instead of being:

| 4 - 6 - 5 | (front)
| 3 - 2 - 1 |

I have:

| 1 - 2 - 3 | (front)
| 5 - 6 - 4 |

Any one have any ideas? I just got a new ignition coil to help with a suspect misfire (which the CEL has been off for a month now) and it's still the same.

This is possible. Each cylinder fires twice on the exhaust and the compression stroke. I would suspect that you may not be getting full power out of the engine as the exhaust stroke fire may drag just a hair behind.

Well just for experimenting, I did try setting up my wires to my coil the way it is in the manual and on TRS, and let me tell you that DEFINITELY wasn't the right way. The engine bucked like a pissed off bull, so needless to say I'm going to leave it.
