I just bought an 85 ranger for a "low buck" 2.3 swap into my B2. The guy before me had the starter loose, and it tore up the ring gear. Can I flip the ring on the flywheel like I'v seen the chevy guys get away with, or are the sides different? I heard that trick only works on some cars is why I ask? Any one got an answer? Thanks

Pretty much any manual flywheel has a flippable ring gear. You need to carefully look the flywheel over for any missing full teeth. I have a large brass punch that i use for removing the ring gear. I then deburr the fresh side, then toss it in the garage oven. About twenty minutes later it will drop on the flywheel, I then spin it a bit to make sure it is going flat.
