My 85 ranger tore its flexplate apart. it had a center spacer on the motor side of the flexplate, well it twisted the center right out of it when i was going up a hill. I got it towed home, slid the trans back and got the old one off and went to the parts store. all of them. Napa. Autozone. advanceauto. if they could even get what they thought was the right part it wasnt. it had no spacer on it. they dont sell a spacer kit and im at a loss of what to do. i just wana get my beast back on the road. what part do i need? i have pictures of the old one if it will help you at all. Thanks so much.

Jon Lawson.

The spacer is called a flexplate reinforment ring at times, other times its called a load spreader ring. Not sure on your application but the ones I've dealt with have the ring on the transmission side, between the bolts and the flexplate, acts like a large washer. Welcome to the site by the way!

Thanks for the welcome! It's a 2.8 with the auto a4ld transmission. I'll have to call around and see if I can find one then. Since the old one came apart would it be worth cleaning it up and re-using it?

when the flex plate on mt 2.9 went i reused the spacer
