Soo. I have an 8 bolt crank from a 98TM motor that had the lighter pistons..can I get away with running flat tops or even 90-94 pistons and still be balanced?

I know the 99-2000 cranks are actually lightened and aren't compatible with the heavier pistons, but are the 98 8 bolt cranks okay with the heavier piston?

(Plan is to run 95TM heads to get the compression up a bit)

EDIT: Did a little more digging.....scratch the flat top idea...13:1 is a bit to high for my application, I want to stay on pump gas. I am looking for 10:1 or so (90-94 pistons)

Sounds about right. Was considering this with my rebuild, but no machine work was needed so I stuck with stock parts. According to the article in the tech library the 98 crank was same as 97 crank and 97 used the heavier pistons.

Brand new Keith Black slugs are pretty affordable, so I may just pull the trigger on those, then make up the difference in weight with lighter wrist pins.
