Flat spare tire mount for bed?

If you would rather that it sits at an angle, more baja style...I took the spare tire carrier from underneath my Ranger and removed it from the underside...flipped it over on the top side and drilled a couple of holes...makes a perfect Baja tire mount clone in a pinch...It looks like the pictures directly above my post but has a better look to it and you still have room under it to get the most out of your bed space...I broke the lug bolt on my mount so I found a piece of ready-rod to fit good and just use a nut to hold it tight once it's slid down over the "hub" part of the mount...Good luck!

I found some more photos of my Kartech flat bed spare tire carrier. You can see where I had the mount modified and made way more beefy to make it better and more secure. This is the best way to mount something. You have to think safety since a collision could break off a weaker set up and that could be a deadly missile!!!

That one looks sweet dude...I been working on different designs for those...I just got done doing on kinda similiar to yours...This guy wanted his tire to sit up out of the bed so he had all of his bed space so I basically used some square tubing and ran 2 pieces from bed rail to bed rail on top and joined them in the center with 2 short pieces of tubing and then put a mount like yours onto that so the bottom of his tire sits level with the top of his bed rails...not the best for rear view thru the back window but saves alot of space for other things and then added a hi-lift mount onto the back side of that set up, pretty cool...need to get a camera so I can post pictures...

I got rid of all my MX and street bikes not too log ago and now I only need the bed to haul some bags of mulch and rock or cat litter. Still got lots of room for that. I can still put in the mountain bikes when I want to and plus I have the Yakima roof rack and the Yakima Basket-case to put things up there when I need to. Life is never confusing....you just adapt to it. lol

Did you take some photos of that work you did??

Here's what I've been using for the last year or so, the design could be reworked a little but it's been wheeled and bounced around enough that I know it isn't going to break on me. It is a 3/4" threaded rod welded to a plate that I bolted through the bed. Then welded a nut inside of the T part so it threads onto the rod.

I need to invest in a camera...I can take pictures with my phone but when I put them on the computer they are tiny and you can barely see them...

This is also a great idea you came up with. I do like that Hi-lift jack mount idea!!! I still need to get my Hi-lift jack mounted. I keep saying I am going to it next week and that was almost a year ago....lol

If you are going to build me a light bar you need a camera, Bro!!! lol

I would do it on the outside of the tailgate, that way you can still load stuff without having to take it off. Put it up a little high so you will be able to clear the bumper.?? I'm still playing around with ideas about where to put mine. Let me know what you come up with.
