i have recently been toying with the idea of painting my truck flat or satin black. does anybody know how durable that will be? where i live there is snow on the ground and salt on the roads for 5 months, and i go on dirt trails and do mild wheeling. post pics of your truck and what you used to paint it if anybody has a flat paint job please

my truck was painted in satin "oregano" green with satin "sand" trim. i like it lots.
you can always paint it with regular gloss paint, then do the clear coat in matte/satin using however many coats to get your desired effect. just a thought.

has anybody used tractor enamel, like that blitz black stuff?

John Deere Blitz Black is fantastic paint.

It lays real nice and is durable. It isn't quite as good as it used to be though, a couple years ago they changed the formula and the sprayer nozzle.

Gloss paint doesn't stain as easy as flat, it has smaller pores.

ok thanks. isnt the valspar low gloss black tractor enamel the same thing as the john deere paint?

ok thanks. is valspar low gloss black tractor enamel essentially the same thing as blitz black?

If you want a nice looking flat, you can use DP90 black primer. its relatively inexpensive. but as with all primers.... if they sit in the sun and are exposed to the elements all the time they tend to chalk up over time (the black will turn more gray)

another option is to repaint your truck with a black base coat and ad a flattening agent to the clear coat. that why you can decide how flat you want it (semi-gloss, satin, or totally flat).

those two ways are the most work but give way better results over using rattle cans.

any auto paint supply store can hook you up with everything you need to do the job

im partial to the no glare totally dead flat look so im using a mixture of translucent basecoat, clear coat, and a ton of flattening agent for my truck:D
