Flareside vs. Non-Flareside

I love the way a flareside looks in a slammed 2wd standard cab. I buy a truck based on its ability to get what I need done, part of which is hauling shit in the back of it. I wouldnt be able to fit my Eiger in the back of a flareside, so it would be ruled out.

I think the Flareside is fine on a regular cab but looks silly on a Supercab.

ive owned my flareside for 6 years and have yet to build a single house. i have hauled one or two 4x6 sheets of plywood from time to time...they fit fine if leaned against one bedrail. ive hauled a 3,000lb roll of galvanized sheet metal, a piano, litterally hundres of pallets (i was the only one in high school with a pickup for about a year and a half), landscaping rocks, garbage, engines, axles, people, 1500lbs of batteries, and my girlfriend and i camped in it (under the topper) for 5 days on our way through canada.

flaresides are far from pointless. they have LESS space...but not by much.

^word^

On one camping trip I fit three dirtbikes, one gear bag,a cooler, and two sleeping bags in my stepside. You just have to know how to pack. And my truck is very sexy. Chicks dig the step side rangers.:icon_thumby:

I said that at first also but now that I own a supercab Splash it grew on me. I actually like the supercab Splash more.

I love the reg cab stepside. I always wanted the original Splash, but the leg room was too cramped until they changed the cab in 2001. This is my DD and I had been looking for one a looong time before I found it. If I want to haul stuff bigger than the Ranger (it's only 42" x 68") I use my '89 F350 Crew cab with the 8' bed. The best soft tonneau I've found was the Downey (he pretty much invented it). The Downey SE cost me $175 delivered to my door.

This is my exact truck down to the silver paint with the DowneySE tonneau except it now has 255/60-15s on it. (not my pic)

The following two show just how nice these Rangers look:

i just bought a stepside bed ranger a week and 2 days ago even though i was kindof against it with the extra room and all.. but its not too bad a little less room but a mac tech series triple bay box still fit in there :)
but this morning some lady decided not to yield to a yield sign and smashed my ext cab portion and my bed. the bed doesnt look too bad but its all cracked up, and to replace it is 556.62 so idk if it is a cheaper alternative then regular sides or not, because if it was it wouldve been dented up pretty bad..

Flareside every day... I miss my old one and will be doing a bed swap down the road....

Flareside!!! Sometimes I wish I had a regular bed but I have always been a big fan of flaresides. Not having tons of room is my excuse to get out of haul my buddies crap all the time..... haha!

Regular bed is undoubtedly more practical for a truck, just in terms of usable space - this from someone who has the Flareside.

Having said that, I think it really comes down to a matter of personal preference - I ordered my truck with the Flareside because I like the way it looks.

And it really doesn't much matter what anyone else thinks - get what you like - you'll be paying for it, you'll be driving it.

I think the Flareside bed looks great with the Splash package, but in XLT trim I prefer the Styleside (Ford's term for "regular") bed.

I love my step side, at first I was on the fence on whether or not i should get it, but I'm glad I did. It just makes the reg cab trucks look much much better. More style, than just flat.

I have a flareside and I love it. I really don't think I would have got it if it wasn't. I just really like the look. I got a brand new tonneau cover for cheap with no problems. Guess it's all about personal preferance.

If your after looks thats up to you ,but for needing room & for more durable of a bed I would go with the fleetside/styleside as they are wider & are made of steel & there are more accessories for them & the acc. would be cheaper as compared to the flareside & the flare side is made of fiberglass which can be easily cracked especially if on a 4wd out fourwheeling.
