Does anyone know why Ford is now specifying the FL-910 oil filter when it used to spec the FL-400S? I have a 02 Ranger Duratec and a 09 Duratec....I have a case of the 400S fliters for my 02 and now they are recommending the 910 for that truck and all newer duratecs.
I have 210,000 miles on the 02 and have been using Mobil 1 5w-20....my 09 has 800 miles on it.
It seems other than the stealership, no one stocks the 910.
Both oil filters fit.

my knowlege from working at the ford dealership was no difference except for the number on the filter

The FL 400 is all we use at our ford store

Ummm........

I believe it's just a clearance issue, as in the 910 is shorter than the 400.. if you've used the 400 for years on said vehicle, then I'd continue, as I'm a believer that more quantity is better.

The length of the two filters is different.

I hate Walmart with a passion but they are the only place around here that stocks the FL-910. Ford specs this filter and 5w-20 oil so I use it.
