fixing my clear coat.

Wow! You really just jumped in there and took a sander to your truck, outside. Maybe one panel at a time would be a bit easier to fill and prime then final wipe it and shoot your paint. It's going to be nearly impossible to prevent surface rust for any length of time.

actually I did it in a garage and have been driving it around like this for a bit. lol. I sprayed a quick film of clear to hopefully prevent any rust from forming till I can finish the job. either way I am not taking any short cuts and plan on doing a proper paint job.

I would take all the clear off just to eliminate the possibility of it causing a problem down the road. Definitely get primer on there, clear doesn't have any corrosion protection and you'll end up sanding rust later.

ok, i got thinking about it later today and thought maybe I should completely remove the clear so that it doesn't peel under the paint later on.

What would you guys recommend for a degreaser before primer?

Any brand wax & grease remover will be fine

Having read through all the TSB's for the 93 model year, yes, definitely take all the clear off. I guess they went with the lowest bidder for paint that year? lol

About the eCoat: Don't sand this off, apparently...

About the clearcoat: Sand this off at all costs!!! Ford Fail!!!

That's what I will eventually be doing, but for now, mine is serving a utilitarian purpose.

Every autobody guy I have ever met has sworn by Acetone.

I'll probably get flamed for this but...Bondo isn't hard to do, if you've ever done drywall. The application is the same basic principal. For small knicks and such, a tube of glazing putty can serve you well. At the end of the day, it's epoxy...and you're trying to make a smooth surface.

EBP: I am aware that drywall mud is not epoxy. :D

EAP: Close enough... lol :)
