At the beginning of the storm monday, my tent was about to fly away. So I hastily took it down and in the process, one of the thin fiberglass rods that frames the hinged door split lengthwise. Just wondering if anybody has any good fixes for this. Its small in diameter and will see excesive bending since it frames a hinged door. I was just gonna use duct tape, but maybe theres a better method out there.

I know that here where I am at there is a general store that has tent pole repair kits. All you would need to know is the diameter and length of the individual sections. You would have to look around at some general stores and sporting good stores and should be able to find the repair kit you need. Hope that helps.

Call or email the manufacturer. I broke a tent pole years ago, called the manufacturer and they sent me a new one... free. It never hurts to try.

usually tents come with spares. mine has 3 extra ones for just in case. but yeah, try the manufacturer.

In a hasty situation I've used an extra tent peg as splint with duct tape or zip ties to hold it in place.

Measure the diameter, go to a hardware store and get a length of tubing Judy big enough to slide over it. Metal will work, but if it needs to permit bending, get firm plumbing hose.

Slip it over the break, make sure its long enough to give good support, 3 inches should do, slide it on the broken pole, then epoxy that bugger into its new home.

Happy camping!

In case your wondering how this magnanimous knowledge was bestowed upon me, I was born and raised in Montana. I miss it dearly.

I used a section of old fishing rod onetime. That rod and tent saw alot of action in their time... apart and together.:D
