Just purchased a 98 with a 2.5. It has a rusted exhaust flange and missing donut gasket at the joint behind the cat and the start of exhaust pipe.

Looking for a DIY fix. Can I just cut both pipes with a hacksaw and then buy a pipe for in between and use muffler clamps? Is there a way to replace the flange and put in a donut?

Any help appreciated.

I don't know how badly yours is rusted but, for mine I just bought a new dougnut seal, set the exhuast where it needed to be, and welded the flange back onto the tubing.

If it's just the flange that's rusted away you can get split flanges, they come apart to allow you to get them on the pipe.
