Ok guys, after looking around searching for a fix (a longer lasting one than jb welding the plastic canister) i decided to do something and getting rid of the thinghe pieces, an .Mine was leaking bad, so this is what i did:
went to autozone, bought 2 packs of the smaller diameter and 1 pack of the wider diameter (theres just 2 sizes so) of nylon line brass couplers, about 2 ft of fuel injection hose (1/4 size) and about 5 steel hose clamps (1/4). its all less than 20 bucks i think so its cheap.
Then get some rags, your crawler or something to lay underneath your truck, and an empty bottle of coke or something to catch the gas.
First.-try getting all gas out of your lines.
second.-prepare two lenghts of fuel hose inserting a smaller diameter coupler on each side of one of the pieces and for the other one its gonna be a wider on one end and a smaller couplers on the other.Clamp them with the hose clamps.
third.- cut your fuel lines with a sharp knife or blade just at hte end of the conectors going to the canister(heres where it gets messy so try not spilling that much gas by getting quiker or smarter) remove the anister by unscrewing the 2 screws holding it (10 mm) and now you can throw it to the trash.
fourth.-conect your fuel lines with the hoses you prepared with the couplers, its gonna need some real good pressure TAKING CARE NOT TO BREAK YOUR LINE.If it breaks like mine just keep pushing thata coupler until it gets in there.
fifth.-hoses will end up in a x position (one end conected to the oposite)
check for leaks, and there you go, its a delicate operation but well worth the effort and the gas smell hehe. Also its not true your truck will starve gas, or have any side effect from removing the canister, youl get rid of the nasty gas smell every time you get out your truck, the damp all gas wet chassy, youll pass the check and never have to worry for a leak again.Got pictures will upload them later.Hope this help any one.Any questions welcome.

When I did mine I couldn't find the plastic line fittings or I would have done something like you did. I took mine apart thinking it had a filter in it. The check valve in mine was bad and it had an o-ring floating around inside so I'm kinda glad I did. The stupid thing is a pain in the butt though and I would've liked to just got rid of it lol Thanks for the info.
