So, it has been raining a lot in phoenix, az. I decided to take my 02 ranger edge out for its first wheeling trip. Nothing much, just some back trails about 10 miles from the house. It was super muddy the entire way, so much fun. I decided to check axle flex so I parked her on a berm, check it out and left. Pretty good flex for stock, sorry no pics. Anyways, I put on the parking brake on the berm. When I got back on the road the truck wasnt shifting and I had to mash the throttle to get any life out of her. I pulled over to check it out and my right rear brake drum was smoking like a chimeny.:bawling: So I limped home, 25 mph all the way.:annoyed: When I got home i realized the brake was still on. DUH!!!!! I feel so dumb.

Don't your truck have an indicator light to let you know your e brake is on?

It burned out. If it was working I wouldnt have done this. Haha.

mine ligth stays on so dont feel bad....ive drove with mine on a few times

Haha, thats funny, you should go run the Crown King trail, its pretty fun and not to tough.

Yeah true true. Crown King is close by, but I wanna throw on some bigger tires before taking on that trail. Thanks for not making seem totally retarded.

Must be an Automatic? My warning light only comes on sometimes, but with my little 2.3 5 speed and 3.45 gears you KNOW when the parking brake is on. My parking brake is actually really strong and I dont think my engine could overpower it.

i towed my current DD with my old ranger from Pontiac to Fenton which is about 40 miles with my parking brake on. DOH! i kept wondering why the truck i was towing was catching up so fast whenever i let off the gas. we all do stupid things sometimes but its ok. oh yeah, my parking brake stopped working on my DD so i took off the pedal assembly and the release tab had worn away to the point that it would no longer release so i threw a pile of weld on it and put it back in and now my light comes on when i put the brake on. i must have lost connection over time and by taking the plug off and putting it back on i must have gotten a good connection again.

Its happened to most of us. Hell I broke down in my celebrity a few years ago and pushed it off the road with the parking brake on. Couldn't figure out why it was so hard to push until I opened the door again.

thats pretty much what mine is for on my 89...that fawker wont hold the truck even on flat ground:shok::icon_rofl:

Im with ya there lol my rear brakes are adjusted in all the way....easier to do some powerbraking bunrouts :headbang:

haha yeh i have done that before. luckily my ebrake is pretty strong since I only use it on a steep incline.
