Ok, I'm going to be wetsanding my truck this payday. Its primer, but since it had been sitting for a while it has faded alot in places. My buddy said to just sand it a little and it sould look 100 times better without having to spray more.

He said that 800 grit would probably do it, but when I was researching how to wetsand it kept saying anywhere from 1000grit to 2500grit.

So I was wondering if anyone had any tips on wetsanding primer oxydation. Any suggestions on grit or technique or even brands, blocks, amount of pressure to apply, anything. Thanks in advance.

I'm a novice so not using a sander.

On flat surfaces, use a block, on curved surfaces, use your hand or a soft block.

You always want to go at an angle in regards to the body line, and cross back over that angle like an X. Dont go parralell or perpendicular to the body lines.

If your just sanding primer before applying the first coat, 800 grit will do, just keep the water running.

You would use 1000-2500 to flatten orange peel and remove runs on a clear coat.

...lots of water...good steady waterfall of water...LOL

thanks fellas...Ill post pics when i get done...lets hope I dont rape my primer.
