First Time Replacing Rear 10 Inch Drum Brakes


Yes I did. seated and tight.
 
sometimes part combinations just don't work.
I have a set of brand new 10 inch drums that overheated like you describe.
at the time of my fiasco I think they measured slightly smaller than the set I eventually used.
it's been running fine for several years on the better fitting set of drums.

I'll bear that in mind in the event the bearing doesn't pan out.
 
Well, the bearings on the passenger side were bad. After the brake trouble it had appeared that that the brake was the problem. I wouldn't have imagined that the bearings could have transferred so much heat in such a short period of time to the drum. You learn something new every day. Thanks to all for the help.
