Im new here to the forum. My first truck was a 89 ext cab 4cyl manual ranger and was ran over by a semi, second truck was a 94 single cab 4cyl manual ranger and i gave it to my brother when i joiend the AF. 5yrs and 2 kids later, i just bought a 86 ext cab 2.9 6cyl 4x4 ranger and couldn't be more excited. i bought it for 400 bucks and it ran. but a mile down the road from the guy i bought it from (which i knew was about to happen) the clutch went out and had white smoke from under the hood. it smelled like a clutch burning and i suspect that the white smoker was the clutch fluid leaking onto the exhaust manifold. But luckily (since i bought the truck an hour away from home) a friendly redneck came up and started talking to me and i found out that has a small shop (still shade tree mechanic but trying to get a shop up and going) he instantly fixed the high idle problem by turning the distributor cap. So he said he was gonna change out the pilot bearing, master/slave cylinder, and the pressure plate. I got a clutch kit pretty much to change out the whole system minus the lines. Also about a quarter mile before the clutch completly gave out i could hear something spinning ( not a good spinning either) from what seemed directly under the shifter. Does it sound like i got everthing ill need to get it good the drive home? any help would be awesome cause i feel like im gonna be asking alot of questions that haynes wont have the answer for
