found the site while looking for answers to my truck problem.turned out to bea godsend. the issue was the cam syncronizer. replaced it and she ran great but, against forum advice i saved $80 and got the napa part.
it (the position sensor portion) literally went out in under 50 miles
luckily i still had the original ford sensor since the sync gear is what was bad, i took the napa garbage sensor off and put the original ford one back on and shes purring like a kitty cat
. unfortunately the engine odviously got damaged because the sync gear went out at 70mph on the freeway and i didnt realize there was a problem until the engine shut down but shes ticking pretty loud. it seems to be getting quieter the more i run it, i put some lucas in it as soon as i got it running. i hate to ask a question on my first post but with the crank and rods being splash lubed what are the chances that i spun a wristpin or rod bearing because its a little louder than what i think a loose valve or a lifter would be?. and its not getting worse like every rod knock ive ever heard (but every rodknock ive ever heard was coming from a gm product
) anyhoo i appreciate the site and thank everyone in advance for any input, advice or hostile insults. seriously though thanks for having me here and the tech library has already been invaluable for me. great site, super glad i found it.
