Hey folks, I am 62 live in west central WI and have this 84 Ranger 4x4 2.8L that has the following compression, drivers side front to back 175, 155, 180 Passenger side 170, 60 and Zero, I am a pretty fair mechanic but I have heard some not so good things about this engine, it appears that there is only 74 grand on it. Question is has anyone just repaired a bad cyl or two? I really hate to get to deep into this engine as I will be putting the 302 in it come spring just need to get thru the winter.
Thanks
Jim

probably a blown head gasket between the back two cylinders. I would slap a new head gasket on it because I like the trucks so much. dont scrap it. might as well get some new heads and gaskets and have a real reliable good gas mileage truck
