I will say that I think it looks much better then the newer rangers. It also looks kinda big though.

Eh what's the difference between that and the 2020 Rangers? Size?

And what are they going to call that paint scheme? "Bug splatter"?

Edit: I searched on it - GAAAAACK!!!! It's the Honda Ridgeline of Fords.... excuse me what I barf.......

They'll probably sell a jillion of them. Wonder what the tow rating will be with the 3-gerbil engine?

It appears they did do a better job with the front end. Only time will tell once we get to see pictures without the feature hiding covers.

I’m certainly not interested in a unibody truck.

I'm calling bull... not on unkie gump, I just don't see that being the maverick which is supposed to be a small fleet truckish thing.

I've been suspect of these leaked factory photos that we started seeing with the Bronco, and then a creation of an online Bronco club. Now this Maverick club. I've had this suspicion that Ford has been in total control of all of this, and is setting these groups up so they can control them and undermine true enthusiast sites. I could be wrong, but looking back at all the Bronco leaks, the photos were clearly from a Ford employee to have access to those opportunities.

Ford didn't like me posting problems with the Yakima tent on the 2019 Loan Ranger, and it wasn't even a product with their name on it.

If they leak (feed) photos and information to a site (group) they create then they can kill competing sites, control the narrative, and censor anything they don't like.

It just seems weird to me because they're very particular about the exact time you can publish news releases and they're very secretive, but somehow someone was constantly sharing photos of the Bronco before it ever debuted. Is the same thing going to happen with the Maverick?

Or I could just be crazy.

Or I could just be crazy.

There’s a good chance of that...
But I’m sure a good portion of those “leaked” photos are planned leaks.

I should note that the Maverick Truck Club links to the Bronco Sport Forum which links you to Bronco6G... they're all sister sites. Ford certainly controls the flow of "leaks".

If Ford is controlling the narrative on Bronco6g they are doing a bang up job. That place is full of negativity and complaining. I was on there for a couple weeks and got sick of it.

maybe ford will come out with new bronco & maverick avatars. lol

There is no reason a unibody truck can't look like a body-on-frame truck, and it would probably make sense to start that way. The vast majority don't even know what's underneath, and will soon get used to it. It would make no sense to have the thing look unusual when the buyers expect it to look like a truck.

was the elcamino/ranchero things unibody? Ive never looked under them before

El camino was full frame, Ranchero was unibody. The brat and VW pickup monstrosity were also unibody.

The site had pictures of the chassis up in December;

Mods: Feel free to nuke the link if it is inappropriate.

I was most surprised that Ford didn't include the "fake" cab/bed delineation which Honda has found so important for the Ridgeline. I also don't dig the longhorn symbol for the Maverick, but then I'm not in marketing.

Wonder what the tow rating will be with the 3-gerbil engine?
The Escape which has a base weight of 3,300 lbs for the 3 cyl FWD, GVWR of 4,760 and GCWR of 5,705lb, 2.0 Ecoboost AWD ups GCWR to 7,375 lbs (2.0 & AWD add 250lbs) giving ~1.2k lbs payload/2k towing for the 1.5l Dragon and 1.5k/3.5k lbs for the 2.0l. From the aforementioned, the gerbils in the Maverick pretty much match the squirrel of a 2011 Ranger with 2.3. And I'll bet the Maverick is a lot more comfortable with 4 in the cab than a '11 SCab would be.

And how many of us really tow over 5k lbs with our Rangers? While I have over 25k miles towing with Ranger, 95% of that was just a 1,500lb trailer - the 2 sleds, the 2 PVC, and little U-haul all fit in that size. When I needed to tow serious weight I used a SD.
