First jobs? mine starts soon

my first job was a Steve's Meat Market. makin 8 an hour on the weekends. i was 13-14 and i thought it was the sweetest thing ever seein a bunch of dead big game hanging around haha

First job was rebuilding car starters, Ford's by the way. Back then the only two choices were the 12 or 6v ones. Woman (very loose term) that worked on the next bench built up all the GM stuff, bet there was over 30 different options for them. Parts were clean but still grubby work, told myself to get an edumacation. $1.25 hr
Good Luck with the job!
Dave

thanks for the luck and bday wishes, just got home from my first day of training, i think i really gonna like this job

first day of work in half an hour for a five hour shift:D

as of today, im officaly a taxpayer {i know, nothin to bragg about but it just sounds cool}

My first job was painting/maintenance at the housing projects. HATED it. Still hate to paint because of that job.

my first job was doing yard work and mowing lawns for random people...i ended up quitting that and work at costco right now stocking crap. I absolutely hate it with a passion and cant wait to quit. The people i work with are morons and douche bags, the hours suck horribly (4:00-10:30 am, some days 5:15-10:00 am.) Talk about lack of sleep, going to bed at 8:00 at night sucks cause im 19 and at this age im supposed to go to bed at 3:00 am...hahaha.

Been working there for 9 months now and cant decide if i want to quit at 1 year and find something else or stick with it until im 20.5 and sign up for the police academy and whatnot and try to become a cop (been wanting to become a cop for about 6 years now.) That and the idea of joining the Coast Guard keeps popping into my head and i just dont know what to do....uhhhh i hate my life right now haha.

Learn to say "Yes Sir" or "Yes Ma'am" with conviction and a smile and you're half-way there...

And another Happy Birthday...gosh, they grow up so fast...before you know it...they're running off down the road to start a 50 year chase for the almighty dollar...

My first job...summer job...at 14 or so was working in a sports equipment warehouse for $.99 an hour...44 hours took home just shy of $44 dollars actually quite a bit of money back then...can't remember if I ever bought anything other than a mauve hippy shirt that all the girls loved, and landed me my first date...

just got home had a good day never screwed up the cash or anything at the end of the day.. got a good 45 bucks out of it in one day

Congrats!! I've also noticed your spelling/grammer has improved immensly! I remember the post on spelling and how it doesn't matter, etc... but you've made great strides. Just thought I'd say how you've developed into a great TRS'er, and at such a young age!

Most of this has already been said, be polite, be on time, really avoid calling in sick, good attitude, and honesty- these are the things employers look for. You play this right, you'll end up owning the place. Maybe you'd want to, in this country we deal with socailism so you wouldn't. (ha ha, said that for YOU, jason). :icon_rofl:

First job: newspaper route, then dishwasher at a cafeteria (12 and 14 years old) then school bus garage and bus driver at 16- yep, NC let us drive buses at 16! Paid a whopping $1.80 an hour and all the gas we could siphon. That was back in 1976, yep I'm an old bastard.

thanks man, i love you positive attitude :icon_thumby:
and today i was 15 minutes early, i asked questions to make it seem like i was interested in whats going on and not just get in, get payed, and get out.. i think the owner is starting to like me :D and i helped out the mechanics in the garage alot, i changed a u-joint, changed the oil on 2 cars. and balanced a set of wheels. also i cleaned the garage till it just about sparkled, they let me use the water hose to wash off the floor after sweeping it up to

my first job i was 8. my dad owned a manufacturing plant that made puffed cereals. the grain was put in a "cannon" and put under pressure when the pressure was released the grain would explode. like popcorn.
the hull and the grain were separated and the hull would go into its own bin.
my job was to get the hulls into 100lb size burlap bags, of course the bags only weighted about 30 lbs when filled, sew up the bags and stack them so a farmer could come and get them to use for hog feed. i got paid 50¢ per bag but made about 10 bucks a day in a 3 hr period.

first job was bucking hay at 7.00 an hour, 8am to 8pm one hour break 7 days a week... made bank and got ripped, best gym membership ever:headbang:
You ain't joking there!! Family grew timothy hay for a few years...didn't get paid though.

My first job was when I was 13. Pioneer Seed went through the school to recruit for corn detasselers. I got to spend all day in a bucket on a large boom hanging off a special tractor...picking off the tassels of "female" corn stalks. They sewn one row of a certain corn plant, then 8 rows of another...picked the tops off the 8 rows so they get a hybrid. I did that for 2 summers I think for $4.50. Nothing like running back 30', crapping in the field, finishing with some corn leaves, then having to run back to the tractor as it is moving away from you! hahaha. It was a good experience though. Dew would soak you completely, your feet were always pruned, leaves would shred your clothes...but you got to say you earned that money.

My first job was a host at a T.G.I. Fridays haha! I got 5.50 an hour plus tips. I friggin hated that job. insane hours, often overtime and the two years I worked there, I got a 5 cent raise...

my first job at age 13 =] not family not friend just went in and asked if i could work
