i'm in a very good mood, just found out today my job starts in 2 weeks at a gas bar and garage so i will be spending alot of time in the garage, unfortunately yes they do have 1 full serve pump, it is a very small place probably smaller than alot of peoples bedrooms, besides the garage. i will be getting 8.75 an hour working nights and weekends, best part is, there are 3 of us working there and my best buddy is one of them and we make our on schedule, just write in on the calendar when we want to work :D.
then i will be buying bushwacker cut-outs and some 33s.

so what was your guys first jobs? think i am making a good start? oh and BTW my 14th birthday is tomorrow and thats my first day of training :D

its funny how some people get a job for a punishment, when my punishment would probably be loosing my job

my fisrt job was cleaning the bathrooms and shop at a local ford dealer, 2 yrs later I was making 12$ an hour puling wrenches

thanks man and haha ill try not to, il be going on me dirtbike in the summer and on my snowmobile in the winter

my first job was making 7.15 an hour as a ride operator , quit after a month of work to go work at a shop for 7.50 an hour pulling wrenches getting 40 hrs a week vs. 18

yeah when i get older i plan to ditch the gas and work in the garage

be prepared to break stuff just be honest with your boss and give your all and it'll be alright most of the time

thanks for the tips and every night my buddy works up there, im up with him i dont miss a night, so i can pretty much run the shack now on my own but the owner said just come up a couple times to get used to closing down yourself and everything

I've been twisting wrenches professionally (getting paid for) for 11 yrs now and still break things occasionally on accident, but i'm my own boss now haha

aw well you got nothin to worry about haha

yeah ive seen some pretty nasty people come in, but it is a small town so most of them are good

When I was 12 I mowed the grass at a pair of churches--$20 each, plus several lawns for $4 each.

At 14 I worked at Spring Green lawn care washing trucks, doing oil changes and unloading bags of chemicals off of flatbed trailers they would leave over night and other things--painting equipment in the winter etc. At 16 I got my license and did aerating until I tore up a yard--then I was assigned to telemarketing--which lasted a couple months before I couldn't bear it anymore. Then I got a job bussing tables which lasted until I went into the service. Minimum wage was $3.65, but was only $2.75 if you got tips--which I relied on kissing the waitresses' ass's for. Which I did.

Go to college. Which where you live is probably west.

So go west young man.

like others have said, be honest with your boss, and dont get snobby with people. bite your lip and smile. that was my biggest peeve. also beleave in yourself

I mowed lawns the summer before I turned 16 to buy my first car. Once I got the car, grass stopped growing and I needed gas money so I got a job at Pizza Hut for minimum wage, $5.15. After about 6 months I moved on to wrenching at a family owned shop for 2 years and then a Toyota dealership for 6 months, then slung parts at AutoZone for 2 years. Worked as a leasing agent at an apartment complex for a year, then as an IT guy at the county sheriff's department/jail, then graduated college and got a "grown-up" job. More and more often lately I'm missing the simple ol' days of draining 250° motor oil from just-running cars on a 110° Oklahoma July afternoon.
