First gear pops out

I recently blew the tranny in this truck I just bought. So I took it to what is supposed to be the "best shop" in town to fix it. Well $1400 and 2 weeks later I get my truck back. I first noticed the shifter goes alittle further in first. Then after driving it for 3 or 4 miles it pops out of first gear taking off. So I took it back and had the mechanic drive it. He said I should just go into second gear then into first to align the gears. I followed his instruction when I drive and it keeps doing it. So I took it back today and the mechanic is acting like theres not much he can do and that Im driving it wrong but I insisted that he takes it apart.

This is my second manual ranger and by now I know how to drive, And I know how it should feel. Does anyone know how this problem could be fixed?

sounds like he doesn't understand your problem. was the transmission rebuilt or just swapped out with a used unit?

a trans popping out of gear is usually a worn out shift sleeve or it was put in backwards

could also be a broken/missing shift rail roll pin or bent shift fork.

sounds like what your mechanic tried to tell you is to put it in second to get the gears to stop from spinning when you try to put it in first.

well I took the truck back and the shift sleeve was put in backwards. works perfect now
