Picked up a '95 4.0 with manual transmission the other day. Hoping to figure out what to service on it and how to do it.

I haven't owned a gasoline car in years, the only car in the family for some time has been a Tesla Model S, so driving the 95 Ranger is pretty funny.

I need it as I am working on a house remodel and a landscaping project.

Now off to figure out what to service. Nice to meet ya'll!

Welcome! Unless you have reliable service records, I'd replace all things fluid related. Not sure of the miles but probably oil (filter), Trans (even though it's manual), Diff(s) not sure if 2 or 4wd (tcase?), PS fluid?, coolant change, even check the brakes and fluid. Inspect all the assorted boots and bushings too. Better safe than sorry.

Totally agree. It has 200k+ miles. No idea since the odometer broke.

I'm definitely going to replace the fluids. Reading now on the different procedures, this thing looks like a dream to work on. So easy.

The steering does feel quite loose, so I'm sure a lot of the bushings are shot.

The upside is it's a California car, so no rust.

I used to live in Canada, and working on any car was a PITA because of rust everywhere.
