so i have come upon 2 tires that i like, and unfortunatley, they happen to be the only 14 inch all terrain tires, there is the toyo open country a/t and the firestone destination a/t

any tips, or recommendations are welcome

Im getting tires in the next few weeks and am going with the firestones. All the reviews I have read have been very good and they are rated #1 on TireRack. Not a bad price either.

+1 to the firestones; they are good all-terrian tires. i sold them to farmers on plenty of medium to heavy duty apps, all very pleased with the performance to price ratio. The only complaint i got was poor tread life on a dude with a f250 hauling trailers.

Go with the Firestones, I used to work at a shop that sold toyo tires as their top tire brand, I heard nothing but complaints about all of their tires. The A/T tread looks like junk not to mention they aren't that good as an A/T the M/T has a habit of chunking out all the time when you drive dirt/gravel road, even the winter studless tires suck balls. And in all the tires the tread is so soft they wear out in no time. My friend went through a set of M/ts in one summer and most people are getting new sets of A/t even year or two. the only good thing about them is that they have a billion different odd sizes for the A/T.

Toyo

Yes the tread is not that deep and its rounded off from the factory.

Firestone

granted it doesn't look agressive but I think its better then the toyo

I have a fresh set of those I had on my truck...I don't wheel it but we did have about 2 feet of snow here two weeks ago. All things considered my truck did really well, it never got stuck, although there were a few times it took me a bit to get going up a hill but it never stopped me.

I've got a set of the 'Stones on my truck. They grip the road like a pitbull onto a t-bone. Even when the do breakway, they do so in a controlled manner. The only hitch with 'em? Pricey, but worth it.

i have experience with both the Firestone and the Toyo. imho, the Toyo wins hands down. northern Minnesota winters with deep snow and ice and very cold temps, the Open Country AT's worked very, very well. the slipping and sliding of the Firestone's was very disappointing to me. they also pack the snow into the tread more than the Toyo's. better self-cleaning for sure with the Open Country's. and the Toyo's handle really great in the summer too.

i work for firestone and honestly firestone and bridgstone tires are the only things i drive on. but these a/t's i put on a buddies ranger and they do some damage. i got the m/t's of this tire on my ranger and i put a set of the dueler revos on my dads ranger. being you only have 14s it sucks bc the revo is a great a/t tire. i had a set before the m/t's. but i def recommend the firestones you will like them

thanks for all the responses, i believe i will be going with the firestones

Good choice. They might be a bit noisey for the first 50o miles or so, but then they quiet down. The look better with the white letters facing out.

I have Destination A/T's on my Sport Trac. Just got snow the past two weeks but they seem to do well, although the ABS still kicks in sometimes but not as bad as with the OE Goodyears which were horrible in snow.

I had Dueler REVO's on my previous Sport Trac, awesome in snow and off-road, the ABS went on vacation, but they wore out kinda quick. I had two sets, 25,000 miles and they were gone.

That continuous center tread no te firestone A/Ts helps with gas mileage too!
