So yeah like the title says my headlight harness in my 86 Ranger shorted out yesterday. It appears to be the thick brown wire to the taillights that started melting first. Is it weird for a hraness to melt down like this when its all stock? I wasn't running anything off of it because I'm smart like that. So now I'm learning my way through removing the dash......got lots of pics through the whole thing.

Heres the finished product without the melted wires taken out. I got a decent deal on a painless 12 circuit wiring harness so I am thinking of running all the melted stuff off the new harness and keeping what I can on the factory harness.

That doesn't look like an 86 interior to me.
